Walking by faith

Faith can be defined as “complete trust or confidence in someone or something”. When we live and walk by faith, we submit ourselves to do God’s will as an act of obedience, and in doing so we please him “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).

The scripture contains multiple passages that emphasize in the believer putting his trust in God “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1: 16-17)

What does it mean to walk by faith not by sight?

  • Therefore we are always confident, knowing that whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:6-7). The apostle Paul reminds his readers that following of Christ must not build their lives around things that have no eternal significance. Rather than pursuing the same things the world pursues, a Christian should focus on the unseen realities such as Jesus and heaven (Romans 1:19-20). To walk by faith means living life in light of eternal consequences, hence fear God more than man and to obey the bible even when it conflicts with man’s commands; to choose righteousness over sin, no matter what the cost and to trust God in every circumstance.

How can I walk by faith?

  • Anyone can walk by faith, but this requires to be born again. This birth is spiritual not physical “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born a gain, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must born again” (John 3:3-7).

  • When we surrender ourselves to God the Father. Jesus has to become LORD over our lives and not only our savior.
