God’s faithfulness & Call to repentance

Faithfulness and repentance are two words that are completely opposite, but their use and
applicability appear throughout the bible. The first one describes one of many God’s attributes,
whereas the latter is the opportunity for us sinners to mend our ways. Faithfulness can be
described as the concept of unfailingly remaining loyal to someone or something, and putting that loyalty into consistent practice regardless of extenuating circumstances. Repentance is the activity of reviewing one’s actions and feeling contrition or regret for past wrongs, which is accompanied by commitment to change for the better.

• Every single one of us is a sinner hence have fallen short of the glory of God (“for all have
sinned and fall short of the glory of GodRomans 3:23“)

• God called for repentance in the old testament, new testament and He is still calling Today
(“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you – Psalm 51:10-13
[—-] “Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you – Acts 8:22

• The prophets and Jesus preached about this, for instance John the Baptist “And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins – Luke 3:3“. Our Lord Jesus also proclaimed this “And Jesus answered them, ‘Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance‘ – Luke 5:31-32

God is a faithful and loving father who wants everyone to be saved “God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth. There is only one God, and there is only one way that people can reach God. That way is through Christ Jesus, who as a man gave himself to pay for everyone to be free. This is the message that was given to us at just the right time. – 1 Timothy 2:4-6
